National guidance:

Conditions with specific guidance

We are continuing to accept referrals for our specialist services and will continue to review patients on our follow up pending lists within the service.

Specialist clinics (including visiting Consultants) will be undertaken where necessary either by telephone or video conference or face to face if required.

Urgent referrals

All urgent referrals will continue to be accepted as normal and are being triaged regularly and decisions made as to whether patient requires either a telephone or video consultation or if necessary a face to face appointment.

Children and young People will be seen either in ED or at the John Parkes Unit.

Routine referrals

Currently all referrals will continue to be accepted as normal and are being triaged regularly and decisions made as to whether patient requires either a telephone or video consultation or if necessary a face to face appointment.

Regular blood and routine monitoring clinics are taking place in the John Parkes Unit (JPU).

Please ensure that a practice-based system is in place to check daily for returning referrals with A&G.

Prior to making a routine referral, please ensure that any appropriate Policy or CRG has been reviewed and that all the suggested investigations and management options have been considered.

Urgent advice

Advice continues to be available from our service as usual. We would ask that, as usual, requests to expedite appointments are put in writing with appropriate justification.

We are continuing to deliver the Short Stay Paediatric Assessment Service (SSPAU) for urgent GP referrals and the Paediatric Consultant (PAC) can be contacted in the usual way on mobile 07584272641 and you will be given advice as to where/if the child needs to attend the Hospital.

Advice & Guidance

As above, advice continues to be available from our service as usual. We are seeking to liaise with young people and families via telephone consultation or video calls where this is appropriate and are happy to make contact with professionals by the same methods.

General patient queries can be directed to tsdft.childhealth@nhs.net – this address can be shared with families and offers a single point of contact for all of our services.

High risk

All children considered high risk have received some form of communication from Child Health (letter or telephone call).

Young people will not be seen in clinic if they or their family are currently isolating or shielding. Contact can be made via telephone.
