October 2023: Ogluo (glucagon) pens added to the formulary
Ogluo (glucagon) 500microgram/0.1ml and 1mg/0.2ml pre-filled pens have been added to the formulary for the treatment of severe hypoglycaemia. Ogluo pens are significantly more expensive than the existing first-line option, GlucaGen Hypokit.
- Patients up to 18 years of age: Ogluo pens are a green (first line) option
- Adults: Ogluo pens are a blue (second line) option. They should be prescribed only if GlucaGen Hypokit is not available or if GlucaGen Hypokit is unsuitable for the patient's circumstances
