Chlorhexidine gluconate 4%
  • Antiseptic skin cleanser solution

Notes

  1. Used for pre-op hand and skin preparation and for general hand disinfection.
  2. Some brands contain soya lecithin and are contraindicated in patients who have peanut or soya allergies
  3. A 5-7 day course of mupirocin 2% ointment or cream and 4% chlorhexidine wash is used to decolonise patients with MRSA.
CX Antiseptic Dusting Powder

(Chlorhexidine acetate)

  • Sterile dusting powder 1%

Indication

  • For use as a dusting powder to perineum, groin and axillae as per MRSA decolonisation policy.

Chlorhexidine gluconate
  • ChloraPrep 2% in isopropyl alcohol 70% sterile cutaneous solution
  • Sterile 1 in 1000 aqueous solution (colourless) 900ml, 1 litre (unlicensed preparation)
  • Sterile 0.015% w/v with cetrimide 0.15% (yellow) 25ml sachets, 1 litre
  • Sterile 1 in 100 aqueous solution (pink) 100ml (unlicensed preparation)
  • 0.5% w/v in 70% denatured ethanol (pink) 600ml and 200ml spray
  • 0.5% w/v in 70% denatured alcohol (colourless) 600ml
