17.2.3 Soft polymer dressings

Dressings with soft polymer, often a soft silicone polymer, in a non-adherent or gently adherent layer are suitable for use on lightly to moderately exuding wounds. For moderately to heavily exuding wounds, an absorbent secondary dressing can be added, or a soft polymer dressing with an absorbent pad can be used.

(Non-adherent primary wound contact layer comprising a cellulose acetate mesh coated with a soft tack silicone)

Indications

  • Dry to highly exuding, partial- and full-thickness chronic wounds, traumatic and surgical wounds
  • First and second-degree burns

Notes

  1. May be used as a wound contact layer in conjunction with negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT)
  2. Change frequency / wear time = up to 7 days
Cuticell Contact

(Primary wound contact layer consisting of an elastic and transparent polyurethane film coated with soft silicone)

  • 5 x 7.5cm (£1.19), 7.5 x 10cm (£2.29), 10 x 18cm (£4.76), 15 x 25cm (£7.97)

Indications

  • Acute and chronic wounds such as; leg and pressure ulcers, surgical incisions, blistering, partial thickness burns, skin graft donor sites, lacerations, abrasions, skin tears
