Rapid access clinic for Paediatric Dietitian referral for infants with Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA) - UHP

Scope

UHP are providing a new ‘rapid access clinic’, which aims to see new referrals for suspected CMPA within 10 working days.

Please complete for infants under 12 months registered with GP practices in the Western locality (inc. Plymouth, South Hams and West Devon) only with suspected or confirmed non-IgE CMPA. We aim to see new referrals within 10 working days. We will support all families regardless of feeding method, supporting continuation of breastfeeding and/or advising on suitable formula options where appropriate, reducing the need for this to be commenced in primary care. We welcome referrals from GPs, Health Visitors, Consultants and Pharmacists.

For the management of CMPA and any other related issue, please refer to your local guidance in addition to considering the following:

Local guidance:

Food allergies in children under 18

Specialist infant formulas in primary care

National guidance:

NICE guideline for GORD in children (2015)

NICE guideline for faltering growth (2017)
