5.3.2.1 Herpes simplex and varicella-zoster infection

Aciclovir
  • Tablets 200mg, 400mg, 800mg (£0.55, £0.50, £1.04 = (price for guide only) 10 tablets)
  • Dispersible tablets 200mg, 400mg, 800mg (£0.73, £2.14, £3.14 = (price for guide only) 10 tablets)
  • Oral suspension sugar free 200mg/5ml, 400mg/5ml (£35.78 = 125ml, £39.49 = 100ml)
  • Intravenous infusion 250mg/10ml, 500mg/20ml, 1g/40ml (see note 1)

  1. NICE TA591: Letermovir (Prevymis) is recommended as an option for preventing cytomegalovirus (CMV) reactivation and disease after an allogeneic haematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) in adults who are seropositive for CMV (July 2019)
Maribavir

Notes

  1. NICE TA860: Maribavir (Livtencity) is recommended, within its marketing authorisation, as an option for treating cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection that is refractory to treatment including cidofovir, foscarnet, ganciclovir or valganciclovir in adults who have had a haematopoietic stem cell transplant or solid organ transplant, only if the company provides it according to the commercial arrangement (January 2023).
