Please refer to the information on the prescribing oseltamivir or zanamivir for the treatment and prophylaxis of influenza and including NICE guidance.

NICE Guidance for the use of antivirals for seasonal influenza does not apply in an influenza pandemic, other guidelines will be issued.

Oseltamivir
  • Capsules 30mg, 45mg, 75mg (£7.71 = 10 x 30mg)
  • Oral suspensionSF 6mg/ml (£10.27 = 65ml)

Notes

  1. Resistance to oseltamivir has arisen more frequently than previously reported in children treated for influenza. This should be borne in mind when treating children in 'at risk' groups, in accordance with NICE guidance.
Zanamivir
  • Inhalation powder blisters with device 5mg (£16.36 = 20 blister units)
  • Solution for infusion vials 200mg/20ml (University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust only)
